Creative Community Radio Incorporated, trading as Radio Fremantle
107.9 operates the community radio station for Fremantle and twenty adjacent
suburbs. The station commenced broadcasting in 1987 from studios located in the
now Heritage listed former police station in East Fremantle.
In 2000, a decision was made to move to more permanent studios in Hamilton Hill the adjacent suburb to East Fremantle. Hamilton Hill is
a fusion between a commercial and residential suburb. This makes for an
exciting and varied ambience as there are many people living in this area of
Perth from all different backgrounds and lives and careers.

Radio Fremantle boasts the latest broadcast equipment with two main studios, production room (can be used as a broadcasting room if required), administration office, staff room, engineering room, male and female toilets and additional space at the back of the building for potential expansion. The station also
caters for people with disabilities with a specialised lift installed. The main studio - Studio One
- can easily accommodate people with wheelchairs. The main foyer has ample room to provide seating for those who may have to wait to be interviewed. There is also a cool drink and confectionery dispenser for refreshments.

The station broadcasts a variety of programs with an emphasis on local programming including local, youth and ethnic listeners. There is a varied range of specialist programs including, Jazz, Classical, Folk, Country, and West Australian music. There is also a daily 'Collage' program that takes a look at the Arts, Health and
local issues. Radio Fremantle also provides
a wide-coverage
of all major sporting
events - particularly on Saturday's (non-season program Musical Memories.) On Sunday the day is dedicated to our large ethnic audience including, African, Portuguese, Russian and Serbian.

All the programs you hear on Radio Fremantle are presented by volunteers who come from all walks of life. They all have a unique identity and spend considerable time preparing their individual programs. Most of the announcers
have
no prior experience in front of a microphone before joining Radio Fremantle. They have all undertaken the popular Training Course prior to being allocated a time-slot on the station. Without our great
volunteers, the station would not survive.

Radio Fremantle's coverage area is spread throughout Fremantle, Cockburn, Melville and East Fremantle. However, we receive regular calls from listeners from as far as Quinns Rock in the Northern suburbs to Mandurah in the South. From the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures, our potential
audience exceeds 202,000. However,
we have also received feedback from other locations outside of our 'target' area and that provides another 155, 000 potential
listeners. A total of 358, 558. The suburbs served by Radio Fremantle are:

Welcome to Fremantle - and a warm welcome you will get. Fremantle, originally a port township, has become a suburb of metropolitan Perth. It is on the south east side of the entrance to the Swan River, and is also a municipality. East Fremantle is a separate municipality on the same side of the river. Fremantle is about 15 km south-west
of central Perth.
Fremantle was established in 1829 as a port for the fledgling Swan River Colony and was the major city in Western Australia for much of its early history. It was the first port of call in Australia for many migrants.Today Fremantle sustains a rich mixture of cultures and nationalities.
Fremantle is Western Australia's major commercial port and handles the majority of the state's imports and exports. Fremantle is a major tourist attraction for travellers from all parts of the world and attracts large numbers of residents and visitors on a daily basis.
