Radio Fremantle commenced broadcasting on 3 October 1987. The station is located in Hamilton Hill, Western Australia, four kilometers from the historical City of Fremantle and approximately eighteen kilometers from the City of Perth. The station was originally housed in a historic Police Station in East Fremantle. However, as the station grew, so too did the need for more space and the necessity to upgrade the existing broadcast equipment. In 2000, Radio Fremantle moved to its present location.

The station employs the latest broadcasting equipment, administration and production facilities. There are two primary studios, production and technical rooms, staff room, main foyer and the ability to extend - if required. There is ample parking available and public transport is close by.

The station provides a variety of programs catering for local, youth and ethnic listeners. There is also a varied range of specialist programs including, Jazz, Classical, Folk, Big Band and West Australian music. There is also a daily 'Collage' program that takes a look at the Arts, Health and local issues. Radio Fremantle also provides a wide-coverage of all major sporting events - particularly on Saturday's. On Sunday the day is dedicated to our large ethnic audience including, Ethiopian, Portuguese, Italian and Serbian.

All the programs you hear on Radio Fremantle are presented by volunteers who come from all walks of life. They all have a unique identity and spend considerable time preparing their individual programs. Most of the announcers have no prior experience in front of a microphone before joining Radio Fremantle. Without our great volunteers, the station would not survive.

Radio Fremantle's coverage area is spread throughout Fremantle and Cockburn. However, we receive regular calls from listeners from as far as Quinns Rock in the Northern suburbs to Mandurah in the South. Click Here to view our coverage map. From the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics figures, our potential audience exceeds 202,000. However, we have also received feedback from other locations outside of our 'target' area and that provides another 155, 000 potential listeners. A total of 358, 558.
